omfg. co.

you know what i love?  boys that can do neat things. especially boys who do neat things in portland, cuz portland is the shit!

the gentlemen of the official manufacturing company make neat things.  their most recent things are lovely t-shirts.  quite lovely indeed.

they also made the most fantastical sign for olympic provisions. so good!  we need to go there for charcuterie soon, okay? okay great.

OMFG CO.  be about it.

today is monday. horay.

my lovely friend ragen fykes, 1/2 of M64, has collaborated with the park and keelay of the bay area to create grillade.  those kids are working on some full length stuff.  i thought it was a 7", but this baby was wrong!  anyway, it sounds pretty hot.

to satisfy your need, if you go to record breakin' they have a sample of an M64/grillade remix of 'in the pocket' that you can download for free.  holla!

recognize.

last nite i had a dream i had a giant mounds bar and then i woke up it was just monday.  lamesauce!  where's my giant mounds? i should totally make one for myself for my birthday.

brighter days.

i am running on empty, kids. in the past two days only eight measley hours of sleep!  how stupid. it's my fault.  plus i could not miss out on ben's funtimes birthday at the red fox.  we ate cupcakes and i drank many wines.  horay.

the highlight of yesterday was not only walking approximately eight million miles in the rain in really tall heels with no umbrella, but the fact that i made it to everyday music in one piece. this rain is shit, but i was determined to get my paws on that blakroc.  after procuring this album and some delicious bread from the store i went home and listened to it around eleventy times before leaving the house.  i feel like it definitely is one of the most legitmate albums i've bought this year.  top five even.  it's so good.  and nicole wray.  nicole wray!  i have a major girl crush on her cuz she's simply amazing.  one of my favorite tracks on the album is why can't i forget him.

i really suggest this album. like really suggest it.  if you're open minded, that is.  i can see some people who are very fundamental about their 'types' of music being snobs about this kind of crossover but in my opinion they can eat a deck.  ya heard!?  two paws up!  this week has been that kind of week for sure.  and today i'm having a great hair day which is totally the best ever.

tomorrow i am going to be caught up on sleep and come to work with even better hair than today.  maybe i'll be able to motivate myself and tell you guys about all the wonderful things i've found on the internets today.

who's in the mood for latkes?  i know i am!

party season.

i honestly hate the holidays. everyone flipping their lids about buying presents and crap.  who cares? not me, that's who.  i am buying someone a present and that's me.  plus, the only fun thing about the holiday season is party season, i know you feel me on this.

i am seriously full of excitement over rodarte's new line for target.  i have slept on the countless amounts of times they've brought in fabulous designers, like alexander mcqueen, and i refuse to do that this time around.  rodarte are amazing girls and i love them a lot.  the stuff they're cranking out is so nice and sweet that i want it all.  so, for this holiday season i plan to buy something nice for me. horay!

their whole look book can be seen on ny mag. and it's going to be in stores december 20.  be still my heart.

i want this outfit.  mustard yellow.  i likey.

ooh. actually, i want this one.  yes.

however, if you feel you absolutely must buy me a present i will not protest.  let me remind you that i still do not have my favorite wallet on toddland.  hamburger deliciousness!  this is a must have accessory for me for 2010.  i will not be able to live without one.  meat accessories need to happen.  they even have a happy hot dog coin purse!  why aren't they mine yet?  why!?

oh shit.  i'm an asshole.  it's muthafucking sold out.  again!  well, that'll give you time to contemplate whether you want to buy me the hot dog or the hamburger.  they're both equally as cute.  well,  i am quite partial to hamburgers.  i'm drawn to those little sesame seeds, ya know?

cock waaaaffle.

this is totally major.  me and the dudes are having a holiday get together in january cuz all those bitches are leaving me at the end of december.  pretty rude if you ask me.  anyway!  we were at ben's house dranking delicious whiskey on friday nite discussing this.  a couple things are definitive.  number one: holiday.ham.  that's right!  very exciting.  number dos:  cock waffles.  what are cock waffles you say?  well ... i'll tell you (please don't be jealous).  waffles in the shape of penises.  or could it be penii?  I prefer to call them penii.  it's more fun.  I plan on putting bacon in some of them.  i mean, why not?  sounds good to me.

has anyone noticed lately that it is ass chapping cold outside? me no likey.  except i like it when I layer around this time of year cuz then i don't get all sweaty. ga-ross!! back to my original story, it's muthafuckin cold as shit outside.  but you know what? WHO CARES.  i'm sick of talking about the weather.  i will mention though that it's only 4 more months until springtime and my birthday!

for my birthday please remember:  planet earth.  want want want want want.

i was off the internets for so many days this last week that i feel i hardly know what to do or where to go.  it's a sad state of affairs, let me tell you what.  well, after school is over aka tonite!  I will be free to roam the internets at my leisure and post crap about bacon!  wait, i already do dat.  well, you get the idea.

blah blah. i'm boring myself.  i'm going to watch spaghetti cat.  yayyy!

oh wait, i had one more thing to say.  the sartorialist.  he apparently went babe spotting in milan because check out this slightly foxy hipster he found.  toms: check.  skinny jeans that are slightly rolled showing zee ankle: check.  casual tee: check.  nice hair: check.  hipsters over thar do it so much better. plus, they don't ride no dang fixed gears.  ya feel me?

little things.

the new yorker's november 23rd issue is going to be all food related.  how exicted are you? i know i am.  plus there's a floating pumpkin pie on the cover.  holla.  basically november 23rd is going to be a very good day.  not only for this new yorker, but also wax poetic's new issue! curtis mayfield and radio raheem on the cover?  hello.  i'm so into it.

horay.

it's the little things in life that keep me going.

i'm in the mood for toast right now.

thank goodness for eat me daily i would literally have nothing to live for.

win.

well, today i was going to look for good things that were meat related and i really didn't have to look very far.  eat me daily had a post on a show the mew gallery in Philly (i originally put that it was in boston,  damn i'm dumb! ha.) is having.  all bacon related!  excellent choice.  excellent, excellent choice.  who doesn't love bacon?  i know, everyone loves it.  this is great.

they had a link on their site to mike geno's meat art blog.  holla!  we probably need to be friends so we can talk about meat's role in the art world.  fucking  perfect.

MEAT ARTISTS  horay!

they had a photo of this on their website:

bacon magnets!  you can get them at sappy moose tree  want want want!

 mike geno is the shit.

when was the last time you stepped in dog shit? no, i'm totally serious about this!  when was the last time? don't lie!  it's everywhere and it's hiding underneath the fallen leaves.  curses!  aaaaand since we live in portland, there's also the chance of stepping in 'other' poop, which ... i don't even know what to say about that. i was having a very intellectual conversation about this at the matador last nite. since i left the damn house today that's all i smell.  it's fucking with me, for real.

anyway.

today i'm way into videos.  this is a portion of shorts titled 'revenge' and it's by lernert engelberts and sander plug.  so neat.  the music is by sufjan stevens.  holla!  their site is right here, son!

Revenge from Lernert & Sander on Vimeo.

their video on color correction is really crazy.  you should check it out!

i'm really in the mood for meat related artwork.  it's been a while, you know?  i should scour the internets tomorrow for something possibly brisket related perhaps?  oooh,  that reminds me.  i found this chick on etsy called hamburger panda who has some ridiculous prints and tees!  one being a bacon fish!!!  she says "This is the fish that bacon would come from, if bacon came from fish."

cindy, let's get married where the baconfish are wild.  if you were a baconfish, where would you live?

Monday, November 2, 2009

well, hello.

how are you today? i'm doing well, thanks.

actually, my voice is kind of scratchy from all the shenanigans of saturday evening. i was only out for a few hours, now i sound like i ate glass. great. thanks for nothing. my dolly outfit was fun to wear, except the lipstick shit. how do chicks wear that crap? i mean, seriously. what is wrong with girls? ridic. all you need is some muthafuckin lipgloss for reals.

whatever the fuck. listen up kids. yesterday i was a good girl and went to the library and listened to chisa yap while i did all my homework. it was good. but i was totally inspired on account of all the studying and what not. i was researching for this project we're doing about the man with the movie camera (see below, suckas) and i found this guy that is totally amazing and i am in love. again! i know.

Alexey Titarenko is so amazing. all of his photos are full of energy, but they stand still in time and i love them all. how come i never heard of this dude before? whatevs. i'm in love. love love love.

here is his website. there are quite a few series in thar that are truly amazing. so neat!

city of shadows:

venice:

st. petersburg:

oh my goodness.  let's not forget that chisa and i went to toast & pho!  it was a'ight.  nothing to write home to mom about.  but it was their first day.  one and a half paws up for them, this is unofficial since i'm going back after they've established themselves.  i did peep their breakfast menu and alex is not impressed.  we'll see!  their bacon better be muthafuckin tasty!  ya feel me?

phantasmagoria&wizardry

have you seen the man with a movie camera? it's such an excellent movie.  simple and even moving despite the lack of actual story line.  it's just life and machines. so good!

this weekend i might watch un chien andalou to get some inspiration for this thing i'm working on this weekend.  horay for library times. i'm really interested in phantasmagoria right now.  we'll see if i can tie that in.  yay!

in more important news ... two things!  i'm going to be dolly parton for halloween this year!  i even ordered a wig.  so exciting!  i'm going to search for a bustier to make my boobs look bigger, so it's kind of plausible.  hahaha.  what a riot.

the other thing is this breakfast amazingness that i found!  my love of bacon and toast ... together ... forever.  or at least until this thing breaks. these jerks in england of all places created this thing that can grill bacon in the bottom part of the toaster and toast your buns in the top portion.  how come we don't have this shit in america?  I mean, this is america?  we deserve delicious breakfast making devices for our convenience. dammit.  someone needs to buy this for me.  the company, tefal, that made this stunning device also has one that makes toast and eggs.  holla!  i'm going to get a job working for these dudes.

oooooh ... bacons ...

toast & pho.

oh my goodness.  dudes.  this is a serious deal.  i was just complaining about how there are no places in my neighborhood of nw portland that have delicious pho for alex.  seriously!  no where.  it's tragic and you know this.

anyway. in our little willamette week they have a small article about this place right off burnside and 21st - a new breakfast place and their name is toast & pho (my two personal favorites).  i do believe it is where biscuits cafe used to be.  i hope toast & pho is not as overpriced as that spot. i might as well just have a panic attack.  this is exciting.  i will have to bring my official judge of pho with me on my first venture.  i can't waaaaaiiiiit!!!  just a couple more weeks ...

disappointment.

wax poetics has never failed me. it is always so choice and so beautiful, and lovely and well rounded and knows everything! the perfect boyfriend. yesterday after picking up the latest m.j. issue my eyes appeared to be deceiving me! well, it was pointed out that there are only pictures of black michael jackson. true. aaaaaaaaaaand, an article on illa j? yes. it was true.

honestly, i'm not being a hater. illa j's debut album yancey boys is quite unique and the beats are undoubtedly amazing, cuz they were done by dilla! duh. the lyrical content of the album is not on par with the actual music and it's sad. this album is very so-so. the instrumentals are where it's really at. if you want to know the truth it's a nice attempt, but this album really only got one paw up. I know! it's terrible. anyway, wax poetics had a feature article about illa j and how marvelous he is when he really isn't. I think that people could really agree. there are like at least eleventy other people that were more deserving of prime wax poetics space than him! so sad. I sound mean, but i'm only being fair.

anyway, they made me feel better by selling wax poetics tote bags. weeee!!! this is exciting, but i'm still irked. booooo.

another disappointing thing about today is that i had yet another sadtimes lunch. rice and beans and i forgot the damn condiments! boooooo.

I do really love this track: I want the instrumentals!

funky funky tuesday.

dudes. this is serious business. my manifested dreams of meat art right here in good old portlandia! it makes me so happy I want to eat bacon. did anyone go to the baconfest this weekend, btw? nevermind.

at tiga tonite there's going to be a meat art exhibit by the thermals hutch harris. I want to marry him, I think. I don't even know about the thermals, but they must be pretty legit. i'm super bummed that I can't go. hopefully erin will take record of all the happenings and buy me a collage.

in other funky, non-meat news ... moovmnt has a nice promo mix to download from their website, called damn ... funk!?!. oh yeeeeeeah.

do you see what I see? I bet you do. it's hamburger shaped mousepad with a built in handwarmer!!! oh man. I was just thinking about how my paw was oh so cold working yesterday. and now ... a hamburger mit! holla!

gizmodo ... how I love thee ...

blt kama sutra.

this week's meat entry! we are all very excited for this. especially those of us who enjoy blt's more than pretty much anything.

there was once a point in my life where a blt would be in my paws several times a week. ah, the good old days ... thanks to the internet there are many varieties of food pr0n which I indulge in daily.

horay for kitchenscraps blog. they rule the internets with this post.

look at the naughty little bacon!!! tsk tsk.

tanuki.

I have some serious issues right now. tanuki over on 21st is quite possibly my favorite bar (okay, besides yurs ...) in all of portlandtown. I've been there once a week for the past three weeks. only cuz I can't go every other day. it's so good, I'm obsessed. last nite I went with aaron and he got some delicious japchae and unagi on a stick. I got the unagi too and some seaweed chips. it's so good and so cheap. if anyone ever wants to go and drink shots of sake and korean lager please let a sister know.

here's their website with menu info, etc.

something cool.

Brock Davis. going with the notion of making something everyday he came up with some really amazing stuff. here's a small snippet of his creativity during that time. you can find him at http://www.behance.net/laserbread

here's my favorite. are you ready??? it's a burger shaped wallet!!! srsly. I know, I'm kind of on the meat-train today, but who isn't? that's what I thought.

anyway. I want this. BAD. 24 bucks at http://toddland.bigcartel.com? not bad for a burger in my pocket!

it's way better than a burger in a can. no lie.
